Why Public Service Matters

Public service that begins by listening

Across our communities, people are working harder, paying more, and becoming increasingly frustrated with a political system that can seem disconnected from everyday life.

Islanders want people in public life who listen, communicate honestly, and understand what it takes to make ends meet, care for family, maintain a home, and contribute to a community.

I believe public service should be practical, responsible, and grounded in the real experiences of Islanders. It should bring people together, strengthen communities, and focus on solutions that make everyday life better.

The future should be shaped with Islanders, not decided for them. That begins by listening, earning trust, and always remembering that politics must ultimately serve the people.

Moving Forward

The approach I believe in

Public service must remain grounded in the values that have always brought Islanders together: hard work, responsibility, community, and respect.

1

Grounded in real life

I know what it means to work with my hands, run a business, employ people, meet deadlines, solve problems, and be accountable for results.

2

Every community deserves a voice

Rural communities, growing towns, and Charlottetown all deserve to be heard, respected, and included in the decisions that affect their future.

3

Responsible use of public money

Every public dollar must be treated as though someone worked hard to earn it, because they did. Strong public services require disciplined and responsible management.

4

Politics that includes people

Good public service listens before it speaks. Islanders deserve a real voice in the decisions affecting their families and communities.

5

Present year-round

Public service should not begin and end during an election. It means showing up, staying involved, and earning trust through consistent work.

6

Ready for the future

We should welcome new ideas and new voices while respecting the experience, traditions, and community values that have brought Islanders together.

About Dean

A builder, business owner, and community volunteer

Dean MacArthur is a tradesman, business owner, employer, heritage preservation advocate, and active community volunteer.

Through his masonry business and the restoration of the historic Parish House in Mont-Carmel, Dean has built a reputation for taking on difficult projects, solving problems, and seeing important work through.

He regularly attends and supports community events across Prince Edward Island and believes public service begins by showing up, listening, and doing the work.

Dean lives in the Bonshaw area with his husband, Matthew. He became a Canadian citizen in 2024 and considers the opportunity to serve and contribute to Prince Edward Island one of the greatest privileges of his life.

He believes public service is not about possessing a title. It is about accepting responsibility, earning trust, and producing results.

Real work. Real results.
